A question:
If the Cavaliers win game 7 of the NBA Finals tonight, it cements LeBron James' legacy as one of the greatest players of all time, as well as a "champion" who single-handedly dragged his team back from the abyss and led them to victory (Draymond Green's poorly-timed attempt at a rochambeau aside). It is also an utter refutation of the Warriors' mobile small-ball, outside shooting heavy style, never mind that they had the best single-season record in NBA history.
If the Warriors win, then it cements LeBron James' legacy as a loser who couldn't get it done when it counted, never mind that he single-handedly dragged his team back from the abyss to the brink of victory when the entire sports world was writing Cleveland off as deader than Jai Courtney's career after game 4. It also is an utter vindication of the Warriors' mobile small-ball, outside shooting heavy style, as evidenced by the fact that they had the best single-season record in NBA history.
Or, you know, it could be one game that could go either way, as thus far we've seen a Finals mixing legendary performances from LeBron with mediocre ones, 6 games all decided by 11 points or more, rotating blowouts (depending in part on who was available to be on the court at any given time), Tristan Thompson suddenly being possessed by whatever alien took over Bismack Biyombo's body in the eastern conference finals, and Green's epic brain fart right when the Warriors were on the verge of the knockout punch.
Which is to say that game 7 shouldn't resolve anything except who wins the championship this year. But of course, that's not the way things work.
